In occidental culture, the dismissive treatment reserved for the imagination coincides with the implementation of a theory of knowledge based exclusively on understanding and reason. This gnoseology leaves aside any possibility of establishing a sensible, corporeal link between the subject that knows and the known object. Res extensa or res cogitans, with this famous dichotomy, Descartes enthrones the philosophical dualism that illuminates the whole history of western philosophy, from the myth of Platos cave to the emergence from immanence by Husserls intentionality. My paper tells the story of this deep-rooted desire to objectify knowledge, making it independent from the subject. This is what reflects the sacrifice of imagination.

The late modern views that the environment is simply there for the use and benefit of the human person without value persist to this day. The purpose of this article, The Ethics of Responsibility: The Philosophical Proposals of Hans Jonas and its Critical Appraisal towards Environmental Ethics for a Technological Age, is to add to the growing discussion which seeks to reconnect the environment and the human person through an exploration of the views offered by Hans Jonas. The imperative of responsibility serves as a guide to an establishment of an ethics for the future. This ethics guided by general principles of authentic dialogue unfolds an important relationship between those theories concerning our view and the use of the environment and human activities championed by modern technology. The significance of this study rests on the fact that the environmental crisis has become so urgent and leaves no one unaffected. The global environmental challenges, especially in our technological era, present serious ethical difficulties. For these reasons this work seeks to examine and evaluate the environmental ethics of Hans Jonas. He presents the dangers that will come to the environment if an ethics of responsibility is not taken towards the environment and further generations. At the same time we want to propose what could be solutions to the present day environmental crisis. The investigation concludes that the environment and the human person share essentially the same scope. Both lead to an understanding of that reality and truth which underline all that occupy human interest.

The prevalence of conflict has remained a major feature in post independent Africa. The excitement that greeted Africa’s independence in the early 1960s soon dissipated as the continent got engulfed in conflicts. The African continent therefore has been seriously affected by wars and conflicts that ranged from ritualized vendettas of tribal society to the revolutionary guerillas of modern times. Within the period 2002-2016, the Central African Republic was engrossed in a civil war that attracted sustained internal and external efforts towards its resolution. This study focuses on the African organizational as well as indigenous efforts in the resolution of the CAR Conflict. The paper is divided into two parts excluding the introduction and the conclusion. Part one deals with the roles of the various African Organizations towards the resolution of the conflict while the second part dwells on the role of indigenous NGOs and Civil Society Organizations. The paper argues that conflicts in Africa can be better and effectively handled by organizations and groups within Africa. This is logical as they can easily relate to the conflict and therefore more likely to understand the issues at stake. They should mostly depend on the international community for financial and logistical support if the need arises. The study is based on the use of primary and secondary sources that are keenly analyzed to arrive at its conclusions.

This study deals with the ontological background reference of religious experience in general, and it aimed to demonstrate how our existential condition of finitude is imposed to understand the most varied forms of manifestations of religious phenomena that arise in the contemporary world. Thus, we will start from the distinction between a hermeneutic-phenomenological conception of the religious experience in its essence and the empirical approaches on its diverse concrete configurations. In the end, we will try to point out that the possibilities of apprehension of religious phenomena in general lack an existential element that is essentially constitutive for us, namely, the condition of the precariousness of the finite being faced with the opening of meaning that exceeds it in its horizon of transcendence. As general contribution, this way of understanding must foreclose every claim to make absolute a background meaning that should remain open as the most radical condition of possibility for the religious phenomena. For this, we will show, at first, how our existential condition as ephemeral beings requires an interpretative bias for the religious dimension circumscribed by the opening of the world in which we are launched and from which we build our feasible projects. Then, we will see how this delimitation of sense implies a fragmentation of the absolute conceptualization.

Horoscopes are in fact the astrological diagrams that show the position of the Sun, Moon and the main planets. They also comprise of the astrological aspects between these elements. Undoubtedly, horoscope is considered one of the most interesting articles in which attention of people from all over the world is captured. There seems to be a rhetorical organization prevailing in any piece of writing assisting to them to overcome successfully difficult reading. This study attempts to identify rhetorical organization, at the level of macrostructure, and linguistic features commonly used in English articles as well as in Russian horoscopes. The study also aims to contrast Move Order in horoscopes of both languages. The research uses qualitative as well as quantitative methods. The corpus encompasses weekly horoscopes in English for 12 zodiac signs for the period from 12/04/2020 to 18/04/2020, and weekly horoscopes in Russian language, also for 12 zodiac signs for the period from 13/04/2020 to 19/04/2020 that results in 24 Horoscope articles. The findings elucidate the template adapted from the framework of move analysis by Swales (it also was mentioned in the previous study) and found respectively five moves forming a typical sequence in a horoscope. Objectively, this study sheds some light on the process itself, how horoscope articles are systematically constructed.

It is beyond doubt that during the last three and half centuries, all intellectual schools of thought in Iran have been influenced by Mulla Sadra’s philosophy. He is considered to be among the Prime Theoretician of Islamic intellectual sciences. One of Sadra’s innovations in philosophy is the doctrine of the trans – substantial motion. The concept of motion lies at the heart of Sadra’s philosophy. The Aristotelian natural motion is substituted by the ontological and trans – substantial motion. In fact, He turns the classical concept of substance into a structure of events, and a process of change. This motion is emanating from the perpetual source of Divine Grace. Based on the trans – substantial motion, Sadra proves the existence of God and the resurrection. Moreover, he solves the problem of origination and eternity, the relation of the changing to the permanent, and the problem of the soul and its union with the body. Finally, Mulla Sadra, by considers the issue of the union of the intellect and the intelligible, attempts to solve the most difficult philosophical problems. At first, this article presents a summarized background of philosophy in Iran, and explains the theory of the trans – substantial motion. Then, we assert Sadra’s innovations based on this theory.

This paper is informed by a premise that there is a lot misinterpretation of current events in Cameroon history. This paper argues that this misinterpretation owes it roots to the inadequate representation of historical facts in history text books in Cameroon schools in both the French and English speaking sub-systems of education. The post-colonial administration have consciously ensured that the content of historical knowledge is controlled so as not to inject friction and the attempt by one group in particular- the former British Trust territory /Anglophone Cameroon to stick to their cultural heritage-Anglophone Saxon system of education. This measure is followed by systematic attempts to harmonize both systems. In this way the state will have full control of the historical content that is taught in Cameroon schools. Comparatively, the Anglophone text books handle only the facts of history and treat the subject as an entity. The Francophone text books are a merger of history and other discipline such as geography and economics in a single text book. Secondly history is not treated as an entity. In as much as its harmonization policy has met with stiff resistance from the Anglophone sector, the representation of historical fact in the text books is inadequate, to give a full understanding of historical interpretation in this part of Cameroon. This paper made use of primary and secondary sources in the form of articles, newspapers, book chapters and books. The paper therefore, concludes that this has given room for historians, teachers of history and the general public to ascribe different meanings to different events and arriving at different conclusions based only on some of the fact and not all the facts. It further holds that in the French sector historical knowledge is grossly insufficient for the students and the public to understanding contemporary issues with reference to the colonial, post-colonial and contemporary events in Cameroon historiography.

The mechanisms of Transitional Justice don’t focus on the single criminal trial but create and develop a set of post-conflict tools intending to restore, rehabilitate, and sustain the affected communities for a more peaceful future. Transitional Justice is a means of achieving justice. In this context, it can refer to how countries emerging from periods of conflict in large-scale or systematic human rights violations make access to justice a reality, and ensure that women and marginalized groups play an active role in the pursuit of a just society as well. It is no secret that many African countries have experienced severe conflicts. The health crisis due to the COVID-19 global pandemic has undoubtedly increased the precariousness of the populations in these States. Our contribution aims justly to highlight the path and role of African women in the implementation of transitional justice in African countries that have faced a conflict.

This paper focuses on song translation and on the task that the translator must accomplish when the verbal meaning is influenced and constrained by the simultaneous presence of multi-semiotic codes. I will outline a framework concerning the analysis of pop music translation based on various levels of equivalence between original songs and translated songs taking into account three main aspects: the music, the lyrics and the performance. The discussion will be based on a variety of German versions of evergreens of Italian pop music, thus providing a series of samples for a language pair not yet considered by researchers.

The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of teachers about the level of connectedness students with emotional and behavioural disorders (EBD) had to their school environments. An online survey adapted version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (Goodman, 1997) was used to measure teacher perceptions. Online surveys were administered to 66 teachers that work with students with EBDs in eastern Australia. Scores on the adapted survey were used to determine if teachers of students with EBD felt their students are connected to their school environments. Comparisons were made between teachers’ perceptions on comprehensive school campuses and teachers’ perceptions on specialized campuses.

This essay analyzes, in its entirety, the figure of Hannibal in Silius Italicus, looking at thematic, stylistic, and lexical aspects. At the very beginning, specific focus is given on Hannibal in Livy, while later there is a focus on an original aspect, not studied by Scholarship yet, which is the role of sleeplessness and dreams in the character’s building. With their lively depiction of flowers and birds or scenes from antiquity, overdoor panels in papier peint constitute a specific element of middle class interior decoration which is little studied. This paper aims to highlight the use of some of these panels in hand blocked wallpaper at the end of the eighteenth century and at the beginning of the nineteenth century. This review of the main French Manufactures and designers sheds some light on this little known aspect of Western art and design.
